Why I'm Obsessed With Adam Sackler From "GIRLS"

So, Girls just ended, but can we just take a moment to talk about the awesomeness that is Adam Sackler? With his perv-like smile, psycho facial expressions, pale skin and boyish chest – a chest that has its own Twitter feed might I add – he has completely stolen my heart.

We are first introduced to Adam as Hannah’s oddball hook-up buddy. It makes me mad that people are constantly describing him as inconsiderate and disgusting. You know what? Those people are disgusting. Well, not really, but yeah.

There’s a scene where Hannah, played by Lena Dunham, is sounding insecure about being a little fat and he says: “Gather my fat, you’ll feel less alone if you gather my fat.”

If that’s not noble and considerate, I don’t know what is.

I get it, though. I get how he can be mistaken as a total douchebag but he isn’t. In reality he was just playing his role as the occasional hook up. Hannah pretty much used him for sex and a listening ear to complain about work…even though she wanted more. She never actually voiced it and as such he can’t be blamed for playing a game that she set the rules to. Give him a break!

As the season continues, we learn more about him. We see how confident and smart he is and more importantly, we see how much he truly cares about Hannah. He becomes this compassionate, committed boyfriend – in his own special way, of course. So you can imagine how annoyed I was at the season finale when Hannah freaks out after getting exactly what she’s always wanted.

I absolutely loved this line:

“You chase me like I’m in the @#!@*& Beatles for six months and then when I finally get comfortable with things, you wanna shrug?”

Truer words have never been spoken.

Until next season, Mr. Adam Sackler and I sincerely hope Hannah gets it together and fast.

Enjoy these quotes, a little Adam-ism if you will.

–       “If you come up here, I’m gonna tie you to my bed and keep you for three days.” (Talk about romantic, lol.)

–       “Don’t waste time on guilt; holding on to toxic relationships is what keeps you from growing.” (Such sage advice!)

–       Adam on FWB: “These things have an expiration date. Six months or until someone stops having fun.” (True story.)

Oh, Adam Sackler is played by Adam Driver.
