Attention Upper East Siders, we’ve officially found the most wild fall TV trailer — and it belongs to The CW’s Dynasty reboot. Because TV is all about revivals and reboots, it’s no surprise that the iconic ’80s melodrama is getting a 21st Century update and with Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage at the helm, we know it’s going to be our favorite new guilty pleasure.
Like the original, the CW Dynasty reboot follows the “one percent of the one percent” Carrington family as the children of patriarch Blake (Grant Show) attempt to make a power grab to prevent his new fiancee Cristal (Nathalie Kelley) from cutting into their fortunes.
The Dynasty trailer, which was released at the CW Upfronts, proves that the reboot is just a glamorous and wild as the original.
The updated series — which sees the Carringtons as global energy tycoons as opposed to oil magnates — has Blake call his adult children Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) and Steven (James Mackay) home to Atlanta. Expecting to be named COO of her father’s company, Fallon (and Steven) learn that their father is getting married to a, maaaybe gold digger, Cristal. Naturally, this means war — complete with sabotage, secret affairs, surveillance, and an *actual* catfight. Everything we’ve come to expect for our favorite TV melodramas.
And because a backstabbing melodrama wouldn’t be complete without him, Alan Dale stars as Joseph Anders, the fiercely loyal majordomo of the Carrington household. But we have a feeling he’s more than *just* the head of house and expect him to be front and center in the drama.
Dyansty will air on The CW on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
