Thank you very much, and I completely agree with your opinion that c-sections are just as laborious. I think a c-section would be even more of a challenge for me emotionally, and thus I am in awe of your strength. I hope everything went well and that you are enjoying your new addition :).

Hi Anne! I didn't feel any pressure at all, but I could tell they were semi-judging me for wanting to skip the epidural. The only thing that was mentioned at my doctor's office was having my membranes stripped if I ended up being a week late and didn't go into labor. When they brought it up, I said no and that was that. They didn't try to convince me otherwise because I told them I wanted to let everything happen on its own and not rush anything, and I'm really glad I stuck to that part of my plan. Knowing that my body did everything it was supposed to to get labor going makes me feel really proud and less disappointed in the fact that I ended up needing an epidural.

Hi Rachelle! It really does make a huge difference when you just suck it up and tell the nurse, doctor, whoever that something doesn't feel right. When I got my epidural, my right side went numb but my left didn't, so I told them immediately because that exact situation was one of my biggest fears as far as the epidural went. They paged the anesthesiologist immediately and he checked everything out. The solution? Lay on my left side so the epidural could make its way over there. And it worked (aside from the "window" in my left leg). Congratulations on your two children! I'm still in the mindset that I might just want one after how challenging the first two weeks were, but my mom assures me that I'll get over it in no time.

I'm so glad you listened to yourself and got the epidural. I had one with my first and it did not work right. I could tell it was numbing some pain but nowhere near what it should have been. My daughter was upside down and gave me horrible back labor. I told the anesthesiologist that it wasn't working right and she did not believe me. I was too young and nervous to speak up for myself so I fought through it. When I had my second and I could tell it wasn't working right, I spoke up until a nurse listened and she fought for me. She paged the anesthesiologist multiple times until he came back and fixed it. My delivery went so much better!

Thanks so much for sharing. I can't get enough birth stories right now. You are so brave for planning a natural delivery! I'm wondering, did you feel any pressure from medical staff to introduce chemical interventions before you were ready? I'm especially concerned about chemical induction, and would like to avoid it if possible.
