Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love Valentine’s Day. Why? Because it give me a  reason to celebrate the person that I love the most in the entire world: Me.

I know a lot of people get depressed because they aren’t with someone on this day filled with roses and candy. I have something to tell you: No one is going to love you more than you love you. That’s a lie, your mom probably loves you more than you love you. So why not take this as an opportunity to indulge? Buy that cashmere sweater as a present to yourself. Go to your favorite restaurant for a nice meal with your friends! Valentine’s Day is about friendship too, after all.

For the very reason that I am encouraging your more narcissistic traits, I give you what would happen if the world took a day to celebrate itself on Valentine’s Day.

1. Everyone would be walkin’ on sunshine. There’s no way they wouldn’t be. Think about it – you wake up in the morning and you immediately see the person that you love the most in the entire world in the mirror.

2. There would be a momentary increase in the rate of break-ups. You simply don’t stay in a crappy relationship when you love yourself and feel secure in saying, “Buh bye, brother. I’m going to find a man that loves me and treats me like the queen that I am.”

3. This Valentine’s Day depression that a lot of people seem to go through would be non-existent. Everyone would have a Valentine!

4. It would be a really good reason to buy yourself chocolate. I do that anyway, but it would be justified.

Do it. Even if you are in a relationship, take a moment to celebrate you. It’s really fun to do nice things for yourself. It’s perfect, actually, because you won’t have to suffer through the embarrassment of someone giving you the wrong gift or taking you to a restaurant that you don’t like. I know it’s the thought the counts, but it’s even better when that gift is perfect (I’m just kidding, it really is the thought that counts). Go ahead, celebrate how much you love yourself this Valentine’s Day.
