I love decorating with birdcages and using them for many things besides housing birds! You can find vintage birdcages at many places with a little hunting: garage sales, yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores, etc. Above, I used a standing birdcage from the flea market in a client’s house to create an indoor planter.
Outside in the garden, a birdcage can make a great planter for outdoor plants as well. You can rig some kind of planter at the base of the birdcage to hold the soil or just use potted plants like I did in the indoor birdcage planter.
If you’re lucky enough to find a tiered birdcage, they can make great candle holders!
