PollsThe Wreck Factor: Is Britney Getting Fired from ‘The X Factor'?Jennifer Still

Y’all know you were hype when you heard that Britney Spears was one of the new judges on The X Factor‘s US incarnation. The princess of pop dealing with hopeful singers – many of whom (at least during the audition process) are a total mess? What’s not to love? Fox was on the same page – hence the reason they hired her for the panel, hoping to increase the stagnant ratings of the show’s first season. There’s just one problem: it didn’t work.

Britney has been… well, slightly less than stellar. Some have pointed out that she seems uninvested in her acts, while others note how uncomfortable she seems giving feedback to young artists and addressing the camera during the live broadcasts. It’s also had the exact opposite effect on the number of viewers tuning in – according to The Daily Star (so take it with a grain of salt), the show is clocking about eight million viewers weekly, compared to the 12 million from its inaugural outing. Ouch.

While the rumours of Britney’s forthcoming pink slip have yet to be confirmed, it’s certainly possible that we won’t be seeing her on the panel next year. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? After all, we’ll always have ‘Boys’ (inarguably one of the best Britney songs) to keep us warm at night.

  1. I saw a live taping of the show when they did auditions in Kansas City. She was very strange and out of it. She tried to ignore the audience as much as possible and just looked uncomfortable the whole time.

  2. She really does look awkward on stage the majority of the time. It seems like she doesn’t know how to smile and her critiques are usually similar with the verbage only being about 5 words at a time and switched around to be used multiple times, as if she doesn’t really care. Sometimes when the camera pans over to her she looks distracted as if she isn’t even paying attention to the show.
