Once again, America’s “football über alles” mindset rears its ugly head! On top of that, it appears at a so-called Christian school(Notre Dame is a Catholic college). Why is it so commonplace nowadays to hear about Christians being bad representatives of God? Is it any wonder why God allows tragedy after tragedy to happen here in America!? We’re only reaping what we’re sowing. America, turn away from your football idol and direct your attention back onto God! Follow His standard! Aim to please Him and only Him and only then you’ll get pulled back out of the abyss!

Lizzy’s story does indeed need to be told with more vigor, but remember, it’s Manti’s story that has brought hers to the surface once again. So as long as Manti is in the news, so, too, will be Lizzy.

I don’t think it’s fair to say they only have the same skill set as a dog. Playing football well takes a phenomenal amount of physical endurance and it does take a lot of skill. That doesn’t change the fact that no one – regardless of what their talent is – deserves a free pass to abuse whoever they feel like abusing. No one should be above the law. I don’t care if we’re talking about an athlete, an actor, a musician, a politician or the man or woman down the street. No woman (or man) should ever be afraid to report rape or sexual assault. At the same time though, let’s remember not everyone who is accused of this kind of crime is actually guilty of committing a crime. There is where things get complicated. Evidence, especially in a rape case, isn’t always 100% clear. There are women out there who lie about what happened for a variety of reasons. Those women should be punished to the fullest extent of the law because they make it harder for those that have actually been victimized to be taken seriously. Allegations of rape should always, always, ALWAYS be investigated, no matter who is accused. It shouldn’t matter what they do for a living or what they happen to be good at. Even so, making light of what athletes do doesn’t further the conversation.

Ok. These people can run and catch a ball…so they have the same skill set as a dog. Why does society let them have the upper hand? I just don’t understand.
