Baking things for people is one of the great joys of life. It’s basically like giving someone a really awesome present that they will love – and you get to enjoy it too! However, I have real trouble with recipe books. I am constantly feeling the urge to bake but whenever I open a recipe book I just get confused, want to bake everything and end up using cake mix. So to make life a little easier, I have compiled a little list of the perfect thing to bake for everyone you know.
For Your Mum – Caramel Filled Apples.
Recipe from Lilyshop.
I don’t know about your mum but my mum is very keen on the whole healthy food thing. Unfortunately, baking fruit salads isn’t that fun, so these caramel apples are the perfect treat. Pop the top on the apple and pretend everyone is having a healthy snack and then SURPRISE – There’s caramel inside. I’m still pretty sure these count as one of your 5-a-day.
For Your Best Friend – Pancake Mix in a Ketchup Bottle.
The best thing about a BFF sleepover has got the be breakfast in the morning. But no one really wants to be up at the crack of dawn slaving over misshapen pancakes. Well, this is the answer. Fill your ketchup bottle with ready made pancake mixture and then squirt straight into the pan. It makes perfect pancakes every time. And if you have no friends, you can always just make these for yourself.
For People Who Don’t Like Cake – Sweet Filled Cake.
WHAT?! There are actually people who don’t like cake?! Yup, I’m afraid there are. And my 7-year-old brother is one of them. When I told him I was going to bake him a birthday cake, he almost cried and told me the only food he liked was gummy bears. So I spent all night thinking and came up with this awesome cake. It has a hole inside and then you fill the hole with your favourite sweet. And no, my brother is not a dog – his real name is Spike.
For Your Teenage Brother – Bra Shaped Cake.
Yup. That’s right. This is a cake. In the shape of a bra. I made this for my 14 year old brother’s last birthday to prepare him for what’s to come and apart from nearly giving my granny a heart attack; it went down pretty well.
For Your Friend on a Diet – Cheesecake Filled Strawberries.
Not being able to regularly stuff your face with cheesecake has got to be one of the worst things about being on a diet. So for your friend on the health mission, I present… the cheesecake strawberry! Simply hollow out the strawberry and fill with uber-yummy cheesecake mixture (I use low-fat cream cheese) and enjoy.
For Everyone – Easy Peasy Chocolate Fudge.
Whenever anyone tries my fudge, I like to pretend I have spent hours slaving over boiling sugar and candy thermometers. But the truth is, I ALWAYS use this super easy recipe. It takes about 10 minutes and is probably the yummiest thing you will ever try.
