Sunscreen Day!

May 27th is Sunscreen Protection Day! My mother has always been on my case about wearing sunscreen.  She would insist that if I came home with a sunburn after a day at the beach she would be furious with me. She was right, I need to wear sunscreen. My irish skin can burn to a crisp in under fifteen minutes… I learned that the hard way.

Anyway, for some tanning is a guilty pleasure and we are curious to see how/if you tan

The sun. I use like SPF 7 sunscreen to prevent me from burning but my skin tans very well in the sun so I just do it the natural way.

I use Clarins tanning gel when I want a natural tan, which for me is getting my skin to a shade that doesn’t blind people. It never steaks or comes out orange, and it dries quickly. For protection from the sun, the absolute best sunscreen I’ve ever use is All Terrain AquaSport. Even though it’s SPF 30, it works better than some SPF 80 I’ve used. Plus, it’s oxybenzone free so you don’t give yourself cancer while trying to prevent cancer!

For the last few years I have exclusively used Neutrogena with its patented Helioplex full spectrum sun barrier, spray for the body and the new No Break Out for the face. I maintained my milky white skin through 5mi Laguna Hills hikes with no hat. For general walking around, though, I do use a parasol. You can get super cute ones in any Chinatown. It takes a few times to get used to but unlike with a hat your hair stay pretty. :)

No tanning for me. I gave that up a few years ago. I’m now lily white and proud of it :)
