There will be open auditions to join the Spice Girls and we are trying not to freak out

How many of us spent our elementary school recesses and lunches in pretend Spice Girls rehearsals? You know — you and four friends would cast each other as specific Spices, and you’d lip sync and choreograph until the bell rang. It was the ideal playground pastime because being in the Spice Girls was every ’90s girl’s biggest fantasy, her impossible dream.

And 20 years later, that dream may finally be a reality for two of the luckiest people in the world.

Talk of the Spice Girls reuniting has been bubbling for sometime — especially with the emergence of GEM, a trio comprised of Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby), and Mel B (Scary). And last week, while on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Mel B CONFIRMED that there would be a reunion — but Sporty and Posh would not be present. Victoria Beckham is busy with her fashion line and family, and Mel C is recording an album.

And it has now been reported that Ginger, Baby and Scary are looking for two honorary Spice Girls to perform at their 21st anniversary concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to International Business Times, the three pop music legends have reportedly spoken to the BBC about a talent search reality show to find two replacements for the concert. Emma, Scary, and Ginger would be judges  — and Mel B already has experience as a judge on America’s Got Talent and The X Factor, after all.

As IBT notes, this has been a successful reality show format in London — as How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? and Any Dream Will Do helped directors find fresh talent for established West End theater shows.

It is reported that the search for the next two Spice Girls will take place over five nights — consisting of auditions and group performances. The last episode will be broadcast live on BBC1, and the winner will then perform with Geri, Emma, and Mel B as the Spice Girls in July for the 21st anniversary of their first No. 1 single, “Wannabe.”

I can’t comprehend that this is real and actually happening. I’ve gotta go rehearse for this audition every 24 hours for the next seven months, byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
