Closet Owner: brother
Age: 22
Style: Lots of plaid, dark denim, cardigans and loafers
Relationship Status: Single (ahem, ladies?)
Unbeknownst to my brother, I sneaked into his closet with one intention and one intention only. I was on a mission to style a piece of his clothing into a fem-proof outfit. I made sure to steer clear of his vintage basketball jerseys and one of a kind Nike kicks, because let’s be honest here, he would have killed me. I did, however, find a micro geometric/checkered print button down shirt. SCORE. Geometric prints happen to be the new tribal print this season, so immediately I knew I found my “victim.”
I could have gone the “boyfriend” route like Katie Holmes would have done aka kept the shirt untucked with rolled up baggy jeans, but I was determined to make it trendier than that. Instead of going plain, I opted for a mix ‘n match look. I mean, who doesn’t love mixing prints, specially in the summer? Keeping up with the mission behind my blog Penny Chic, I used a $17 Target belted skirt in the boldest print I could find and paired it with big colorful bead necklaces to add some more spice to the already funky outfit. Next, I rolled up the sleeves, because if not, they would have been hanging to my knees. The last and final touch was popping the collar to pull the ensemble together and give it that chic edge.
Just as I thought I got away with fashion murder, in came my brother determined to rip the shirt off my back. Rule #1: ask permission.

I got it in Paris last year at a random boutique. Here’s one that looks just like it at Old Navy: http://www.pennychic.com/penny-posts/independence-chic/
LOVE the blue dress, too! Where can I find that???
