Singer Jenni Rivera Presumed Dead In Plane Crash

As of now, it’s been confirmed that the wreckage of singer Jenni Rivera’s plane was found in Toluca, Mexico on Sunday the 9th. There appear to be no survivors.

It is believed that Rivera was traveling with her publicist Arturo Rivera, attourney Mario Macias, stylist Jorge Sanchez and makeup artist Jacobo Llenares, in addition to the two pilots, but reports are conflicting on exactly how many passengers there were. It seems that contact was lost with her plane after leaving her concert in Monterrey, Mexico at 3:15 AM, only a few miles away from their destination.

Rivera, a Mexican-American singer from Long Beach, California, was popular in the banda and norteña style of music. (The norteña style is known for its signature accordion and bajo sexto sounds.) In 2008, her album Jenni went to #1 in the Billboard Top Latin Albums Charts in the United States. Overall she’s sold about 15 million albums worldwide. She is also known for her television work in reality shows Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C, I Love Jenni, and Chiquis ‘n Control, and was a coach on this season of The Voice Mexico.

Rivera was a Latin superstar, selling out concerts at venues like the Staples Center and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Not only a major musician, she was also the spokeswoman for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Loved by millions, Rivera had a strong social media presence. Her last tweet was an RT from a fan.

She was 43.
