Even though I’m no longer in school, the start of September makes me nostalgic for that fresh school year feeling. Of course my favorite part of the school day was always lunch. I loved being able to talk and sit with my friends and even better than that was the food.
In middle school, I remember I was amazed by the lunch choices that were available to me. At first I didn’t know what to do with myself. There was pizza, slushies, curly fries, cookies and ice cream. Eventually I started to get pizza, French fries and then I would round out the meal with a chocolate éclair ice cream bar. Eventually the woman who worked behind the counter knew my order and would have it ready for me. This was probably the most special I’ve ever felt in all of my years at school. Did you have a typical school lunch?

I loved my school’s pizza and I would eat it all most every day. Even though I’m in college now I still get cravings for it!
I was a huge fan of school lunches because the school, eventhough it was on a very tight budget, tried its best to accomodate for a variety of young picky eaters. I personally enjoyed saving some money through out the week to purchase healthier fresh foods from the kitchens deli section. I would purchase a sammie n a bag of sunchips n some ice cold milk. Plus when i knew they were going to serve something i didnt want to eat, i would just bring my own from home ( mostly sandwiches lol). Im very pleased that alot of schools offer a veggie option now,; that shows an improvement from the lunches in the past.
My favorite school lunch was a grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup and pickle chips. To this day it is still one of my favorite comfort meals.
No hate, but your school’s menu echoes those shown on Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution program.
sometimes i felt like they made salami sandwiches just for me, cause i never saw anybody else eating them… and i probably single handedly kept the fruit snacks on order.
