While doing research for this week’s topic on female authors, it became so apparent to me how the power of words both spoken and written is one of the greatest miracles. Words have the ability to create dreams, provide escape and to inspire others to greatness. But words also hurt, wound and stifle. Knowing this, we have a responsibility to use words to inspire, support and advocate.
Every deed done in the spirit of advocacy and kindness is like a fingerprint helping to shape not only our lives, but the lives of those around us. Is it not better to know that the majority of the words that we used during a day was done to spread joy and kindness? Why is it that today it is the catty words and “disses” that are more memorable quotes?
Many of my favourite words of inspiration have been written by women, and I would like to share them with you to help remind you the power behind words and the importance of using them to help champion others…
“There are two ways of spreading light. To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton
“I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning to sail my ship.” - Louisa May Alcott
“We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies.”
— Emily Dickinson
“Something made greater by ourselves and in turn that makes us greater.” - Maya Angelou
“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.” — Audrey Hepburn
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” — Princess Diana of Wales
“I’ve learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.” —Martha Washington
“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
“Your own words are the bricks and mortar of the dreams you want to realize. Your words are the greatest power you have. The words you choose and their use establish the life you experience.” – Sonia Choquette.
Tune into The Heatley Cliff and we hope that these inspirational words have helped to spread positivity and to remind you of the possibilities you have within your self.

I think it would be interesting to hear these in context. By themselves these words are amazing. Imagine the power they hold in context!
I was thinking just about this sort of thing last night after reading various posts on Twitter. Often times, when our words are misread, they can create a cyclone of malaise. But when we are clear, articulate, and intentional, our words have the incredible power to “inspire and champion” others. Bravo for this posting!
