Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Hannah Berg

Gone are the days when lipstick was used exclusively by stage performers and women over the age of 40. It’s been a gradual transition, but if you look around, you’ll notice that most women have exchanged their sheer, sticky lip-glosses for the sophistication of bold lipsticks. As dazzling as glosses may be, they go straight from your lips to the rim of your coffee cup in just one sip. Lipstick, on the other hand, wears loud and proud all throughout your busy day, and then some.

At first, stepping into this foreign territory may be daunting. Jumping right to a Taylor Swift red or Katy Perry fuchsia lip is something you may want to ease into. But I encourage you to brave the unknown and find the lipstick that works for you. A great lip color can be the cherry on top of a fabulous outfit, and the perfect pick-me-up when your day starts to dull. When you know that your makeup looks great, it’s hard not to walk with your head a little higher all day long.

After you’ve committed to the world of lipstick, the next challenge is navigating the thousands of brands and shades. When it comes to your lips, “one shade fits all” does NOT apply. If you find a few colors that work with your complexion, you can change your lip to fit your look and mood. Every so often I treat myself to the high-end brands, but I’ve found that a lot of drugstore options are equally as fabulous. So, show your lips some love and give them the attention they deserve. I promise, it’s an investment that’ll never do you wrong!

  1. red lips are my new thing. i absolutely loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee red!!

  2. I love lime crime, good price and great colours! I think it’s all about the attitude. Believe you can rock it, and you can!

  3. I love women who rock bold reds. Sometimes I want to dye my hair a dark brown just to be able to look good with red lips. Blonde doesn’t work as well, in my opinion.

  4. A really good brand is Tom Ford. They are a little expensive, but I love the reds.
    Worth the money.

  5. I love this! But, question: What’s a good drugstore brand for nude matte colors?
