Princess Appetite: Eating at Disneyland Is Pretty Great

Okay, it’s no secret I love Disneyland. I’ve run around the park, literally. I’ve spent countless hours waiting in line just to ride Splash Mountain one more time. But what’s to be done when the lines are too long or you’re just too tired?  YOU EAT. This video by Matthew Encina embodies everything I love about the Magic Kingdom. Right down to the turkey leg. Because let’s be honest, even though the food is not 5 star, and it’s certainly not cheap, there’s something about that place that makes me…hungry.

Do you guys have any favorite foods you have to have at Disneyland or other amusement parks?

  • Shandra Goldfinger

I’ve been to Disney World at least 10 times (and I live in NY) but in Jan. 2011 I went for the first time as a vegan. Everyone was soooooo nice and accommodating!!! I looked up ahead of time which restaurants were best for vegans and the chefs there definitely went out of their way to create amazing dishes that weren’t on the regular menu. Even at a snack cart I asked the person if a certain item contained any dairy or animal ingredients and, because it didn’t say in the info guide she had, she called someone to ask about it. Vegan or omnivore (like the rest of my family), I wholeheartedly recommend Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and ‘Ohana at the Polynesian.

I remember falling in love with Disneyland when I visited as a newly graduated senior on a high school choir trip. I’ve always loved Disney, as a child and had gone to Disneyland in middle school, but this was a different trip. I got to sing at Disneyland! I remember almost shedding a tear at the end of the night during the fire works spectacular while Julie Andrews reminded me that “Dreams Really Do Come True” *sigh*. My dining experience there was quite memorable also. I had just gotten SOAKED at Splash Mountian (I was right at front) and it was the last ride we had time for before we had to meet our group for the fireworks show. I hadn’t used my last meal voucher yet and was starving. So as a friend and I are racing against the clock to get back to Main Street, we pass by a KABOB stand in the Jungle section of the park. SCORE! I’ll never forget all the stares I got on Main Street as I devoured this delicious Kabob. I looked up at my pal and said, “I bet all these people are wondering where I got this great looking Kabob…so Jealous.” He just looked at me and laughed. “Lexi, you realize people are staring at you because you look insane.” He was right. I was sopping wet, Gnawing on a meat stick, completely and blissfully unaware of what a wreck I looked like. I LOVED IT!!! Disneyland was good to me that day, and that Kabob reminded me that when you stop caring what other people think of you you really are much happier.

I love the popcorn there, I know it isnt anything really different from other fresh popped popcorn but there is something about getting at Disneyland that makes it extra special or dare i say **MAGICAL** and I also love the grilled cheese and soup combo at the new Jolly Holiday Bakery. 😉
