This week in 1886, Coca Cola was invented by John Pemberton. Originally conceived as a medicinal aid, it soon became the beverage of choice due to parent company Asa Griggs Candler’s fierce marketing skills (and Pemberton’s foxy goatee, no doubt). I’m a little strange, mind ya, and get violent hiccups on the immediate sip of anything soda related – but after holding my breath for 10 seconds, I’m good!

Anyway, Coca Cola isn’t the only carbonated concoction out there, and it may not even be the best! Which fizzy formula tickles your taste buds the most? Choose from our list or tell us your own preferred pop in the comments section below.

  13. Diet Coke has the best burn (their carbonation factor is through the roof) but Diet Pepsi will do in a jam.

    Probably my favourite pop has gotta be this amaaaaazing 19p fizzy lemonade they sell at ASDA in the UK. <3 I swear to god, I could drink it by the bottle, and there’s nothing similar in the states :(
