Pacific Marine Mammal Center is a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates marine mammals like seals and sea lions that have come ashore due to an illness or injury. PMMC functions as a hospital, offering supportive and medical care for each patient in need until they are ready to return home to the ocean. The average stay for a patient is approximately 2-4 months. PMMC treats anywhere from 150-300 marine mammals each year. The 3 main species treated are: California sea lions, Pacific harbor seals, and Northern elephant seals. Currently, the patients you are viewing are California sea lions- and they are all getting close to release. To learn more about the individual patients in our care click here: http://pacificmmc.org/
Pacific Marine Mammal Center depends entirely on public donations to run its operations, so please consider donating towards the medical care of their marine mammal patients. Donate here!
PMMC is also 90% run by volunteers, so if you are interested in committing time to this important mission, please review the requirements on the website for more information. http://pacificmmc.org/
You can also help out PMMC by “liking” their Facebook page. For every new page “like” PMMC will receive $1! Every dollar counts, and we feel great that we know these animals get a second chance at life because PMMC is there to care for them.
If you are in the Orange County, CA area, come visit! PMMC is open every day from 10am-4pm and admission is FREE! http://www.pacificmmc.org
