Opening Ceremony 2012: Your Chance To Throw The Party Of The Year Rebecca Fernandez

This year all of us at HelloGiggles have major Olympic fever. We’ve been watching old Kerri Strug videos and brushing up on our British accents. The only thing we like more than being patriotic is throwing a killer party, so when these two things come together once every four years, we have to make it an unforgettable night of magical themed awesomeness.

The Opening Ceremony is one of the most exciting nights of the Olympics. All the athletes participate- filled with hope and anticipation that they may leave London with a heroic story and some new jewelry. The host city pulls out all the stops, making sure to leave adults and children everywhere in awe. With the Opening Ceremony merely two weeks away, it’s time to start planning your watch party, and we want everyone around the world to join in on our Olympic-stravaganza. Read on for our guide to hosting the raddest party of the summer.

Uniforms are mandatory. You can’t have an epic party without an easy-to-execute theme- plus, everyone knows the pictures look way better when everyone is dressed similarly. We’re suggesting any or all of the following: stars, stripes, red/white/blue or gold/silver/bronze. Anything London-oriented works as well.

Party props are a must-have accessory. Party props make everything feel more polished, whether it’s Union Jack throw pillows or Olympic ring wall art, the colors are awesome and will add to the enthusiasm of the evening. With so many adorable options, you can find something that represents your personality AND shows your spirit! These adorable photo props are from Etsy.

Merge appetizers and patriotism. Obviously you can go to Pinterest and find some delicious recipes any day of the week, but for this, you want delicious and gorgeous! There were so many fun options, and I’m sure I’ll go way overboard, but you don’t want any to leave hungry, right? Plus, leftovers are never a bad thing.

Everyone loves party favors. The amazing people over at Rad Nails were kind enough to help make our party memorable by giving each guest something to take home.

Make the right first impression. You can let everyone know how incredible your party is going to be with the perfect invitation. Of course we turned to Paperless Post, where we knew we could design something that represented our party and let our guests know they were in for an unforgettable night.

We’ll be teaming up with NBCOlympics to bring you special Olympic profiles and insight to the athletes- so get ready to catch the Olympic fever and cheer on Team USA with us! You can share your Opening Ceremony festivities with us on Twitter by using the #HelloOlympics hashtag. We can’t wait to see your watch parties!

  1. I feel like London has some big shoes to fill regarding the Opening Ceremony, the Beijing one was incredible. I hope they don’t try to go futuristic/digital with it. The thing I loved about the Beijing event was how ‘rustic’ it was. The culture and history…
This is going to be epic, I can’t wait.
