Bunheads was surprisingly good for me. Being a Gilmore Girls fanatic, I thought anything else other than a Rory-Lorelei relationship would be a let down. Thankfully, it wasn’t! It’s quirky and charming in its own way that reminds you just enough of Gilmore Girls to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, but it has its own vibe. Also, so many people and elements from GG were brought into this! The music, the hooker lady in one of the first scenes is Drella the harp player/ Emily Gilmore’s dressmaker, and the guy at the bar is Mitchum Huntzberger. I’m also noticing some similar character personalities and appearances that remind me of GG. Now all we need is grouchy man that owns a diner and I think the show will be perfect! I’m really excited to see where this show goes! Hopefully it won’t disappoint!
wait people didn’t like hubble?! This show was pretty much over for me once they killed him off, I think it was a MUCH better dynamic that needed to be explored….sigh. i miss GG
Sam Phillips is obviously doing the music for this series too! Yay!
I didn’t think I would like this but I was hooked the minute Hubble said that he would be the one scientist who would understand her. Then I just fell more in love with over the hour. Now I can’t wait for tonight’s episode. Also, Sutton Foster is amazing! Good to see she isn’t experiencing a lull after being incredible in “Anything Goes.”
LOVE that Sutton Foster has a TV show, HATE that so far they’ve made no indication that her character will be singing. Glad they killed off her husband. Could you really stand a whole show where it was just about her learning to love this really weird dude? I get he’s the guy from Ferris Beuller, but his character wasn’t someone I wanted to see her end up with, he was just a tool to get her to the town so the show could have a plot.
I totally agree. He was creepy, and the whole setup was really kind of gross. “Lets keep courting this woman who is clearly uninterested, and then when she’s having a really hard day I’ll take her out, get her real drunk, propose to her (a woman I’ve maybe only had one date with), and marry her that instant because the next day she would probably say no.” It totally rubbed me the wrong way, so I’m glad they killed him off – there was just no coming back from that for me with his character.
BE HONEST, GUYS: Who among you has been doing the Dogs audition dance for the last week? It can’t just be me.
I watched Bunheads initially because a) I have a serious girl crush on Sutton Foster and b) I take ballet. I honestly didn’t expect it to be good, but I ended up falling in love with it! I was so sad when Truly told them about Hubbell’s accident that I was glued to the “scenes” for next week. I was doubly sad that he likely died because about 10 minutes prior to that scene I figured out that the actor playing him was Cameron from Ferris Beuller’s Day Off!
I had seen the advanced pilot on the website when they released the “sneak peek,” so I wasn’t as shocked the second time I saw it. It was more charming the second time, though, so there’s that. I’m a big fan of Kelly Bishop and Sutton Foster (saw them together in Anything Goes), and I’m a longtime GG fan as well. I found it very charming and very Palladino. I’m looking forward to seeing where they take it now that they dropped that bomb on us!
I was extremely shocked by the ending of last weeks episode. I wasn’t expecting that! But I’m really hoping Michelle decides to stay and help the girls out. I guess we will see.
