Noteworthy: Deap Vally Kim Krieger

Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards are just two San Fernando Valley girls who met in needlework class. They bonded over their love for classic music and traded in sewing for rocking ‘n’ rolling as Deap Vally (yes, that’s how it’s spelled). The Sunday Times called Deap Vally “one of the buzziest bands in buzzdom” and they have also been praised in NME, SPIN and The New York Times. It’s hard to miss these ladies in their tiny denim cutoffs & oversized sunglasses, but what stands out the most is the blunt, modern feminism you hear in songs like ‘You’re Love’s A Lie’ and ‘Gonna Make My Own Money.’ I can’t help but think of Thelma & Louise when I watch this video…

Deap Vally just signed with Cherrytree Records and they’re opening for Muse and The Vaccines in the upcoming months. Ms. Troy and Ms. Edwards put on quite the live show, filling the room with every bit of their raw energy. I suggest you check out Deap Vally if you’re a fan of The White Stripes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs or The Black Keys – these chicks bring a whole new attitude to rock music.
