Style Me Grasie No Hemming Necessary Grasie Mercedes

Hi there, Grasie! I love your style and need your help! I own a lot of jeans but hate shopping for pants. I am 5’5″ and most pants are either way too long (and need to be altered, which costs $$) or  are way too skinny (I am a 6/8 but am more athletic than string bean in size). Any ideas for pants styles that would flatter my smaller frame and not break the bank?

Hi Karen! Thanks for your question. Sounds like you’re happy on the jeans front but want ideas for some fun pants to rock. Typically, Petite sizes are meant for women 5’3″ and shorter…being that you are 5’5″ you probably want to stick with regular sizes (though I did include one Petite pant as well) but try a loose fit or slim (not skinny) fit cropped pant. Cropped pants can be worn casually with sandals or flats but also look fantastic at night worn with heels. Loose-fit cropped pants are comfy and best worn rolled up (no hemming necessary!). Straight-fit cropped pants can be worn as is and usually hit right around the ankle. Here are some affordable choices that will work with your height and built. Happy Shopping!

  1. Ashley, have you ever checked out Alloy.com? A lot of their jeans come in 37″ inseams, and they carry everything from 10″ to 26″ leg openings, so you can get some mean flares to accentuate those lovely curves.

  2. Those coral trousers are a MUST!

  3. Count your blessings ladies, I have NEVER been able to hem my pants…I’m 6′ with a 37″ inseam. :-( You think that’s awesome? Jealous? Yeah, don’t be, it sucks lol especially when you can’t ever find pants long enough, and when you do, they cost hundreds. And I’m a curvy girl, so when they ARE long enough they don’t fit on top right. In other words….I am SOOOO jealous of you gorgeous petite ladies who get to hem! Enjoy it! :-D

  4. I’m 5’2″ so I have the same problem! Ann Taylor Loft is my favorite place for pants! They start out expensive, but there are lots of sales and coupons and a teacher discount and stuff so it ends up being not too bad. Sometimes I still have to hem the pants a little and sometimes I don’t. I get so excited when pants fit perfectly and don’t need to be altered! haha, it’s the little things! I’ll have to check out some of these styles too! Thanks for the ideas! :)
