If you know me at all — which you don’t, but that’s not really as relevant as you might think — you know that I’m obsessed with lipstick.
I’m not really a big eye make-up person in the summer because I’m convinced I have an undiagnosed perspiration disorder that causes me to sweat at an alarming rate, leaving everything north of my nose a blur after 2 p.m. It doesn’t even matter though, because if you go big with your lips, you can go home with everything else. This really works well with my general life philosophy: minimum effort, maximum return.
I decided to check out CoverGirl’s Lip Perfection Lip Color because it was there, I was there, somebody somewhere wanted us to meet and I’m not one to snub fate. I picked up three shades, which are pictured in this order in the featured image: Heavenly, Temptress, and Tempt. Somebody really stayed up all night naming this line.
What really made me take note of these, other than my affinity for shiny displays, is that they’re supposed to hydrate the absolute hell out of your lips. I really hate lipsticks that dry me out and show me what my mouth is going to look like when I’m an 85-year-old smoker, so I’m very Team Moisture.
CoverGirl describes this lipstick as “Bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with a silk moisturizing complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.” Silk moisturizing complex? Sustain moisture levels? Something about 7 days? Sounds legit! These lipsticks will run you about $6-$7 each depending on where you purchase them.
Here’s Heavenly. It’s a pretty neutral pink that I think would flatter most skin tones. I think it’s a great “safe” color for day wear, going to the country club if you’re into being bored, meeting parents, or channeling your inner Audrey Hepburn. She’s seriously dying to get out and this is a great way to let her do just that.
So here I am wearing Temptress. I kind of have a Special Edition Random Island Barbie look going on here, so I think I like it. Warning: It’s a lot bolder in person than it is in this picture. Pinks are weird in that I think they can actually be “louder” than reds, so you might have to be careful about what you wear with this so you don’t look too bizarre. I don’t have any reservations about looking bizarre myself though, so I’d wear this day or night and with whatever was clean.
This one is, obviously, Tempt. I operate under the mentality that you can never have too many red lipsticks. It’s a cool red and I have a warmer skin tone so I think I’m technically breaking some sort of make-up rule that I don’t care about, but I think this is probably going to be my go-to red for quite some time. Also, it lasts forever. I tried to wipe it off to go to a meeting three hours ago and it’s still there. Plan accordingly!
