You’ve known and loved the site for years, and now there’s a new way to worship Man Repeller — in the form of a just-launched podcast called “The Call.”
“The Call” centers around interviews with women who have “answered the call” in their own lives, and pursued the careers and and goals they couldn’t ignore; it’s hosted by writer and former political strategist Erica Williams Simon. The site’s other two podcasts are “Oh Boy,” hosted by filmmaker Jay Buim and featuring interviews with women in the arts, tech, and more, and “Monocycle,” a weekly 10-minute monologue delivered by Medine herself.
In the first episode of “The Call,” which dropped yesterday on iTunes and Soudcloud, Simon interviews New York Magazine writer and social media maven Jenna Wortham, who once received a bouquet of flowers from freaking Beyoncé with a note reading, “Thank you for the beautiful words you said about ‘Formation.’ Thanks for understanding my heart.”
So yeah. The caliber of talent on “The Call” is, uh, pretty high.
Simon hopes the show will inspire listeners to follow their own “call,” even when it feels utterly terrifying.
“I’ve had a career that has taken me through politics, media, faith and entrepreneurship,” she said in an intro post on Man Repeller. “I hope that listeners hear something that makes them take a step they otherwise wouldn’t have taken, maybe that they’ve been afraid to take, that they push themselves one step beyond their comfort zone.”
We’re only at episode one and we already feel inspired — so you’re off to an amazing start, girl!
