The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island hotel serves guests contemporary European cuisine as they sit in a glass dining room 16 feet below sea level.
In order to gain access to the jaw-dropping restaurant, visitors must walk to the end of a jetty and climb a spiral staircase down into a coral reef. They then enter the glass tunnel through the curved roof.
Inside, there’s only room for 14. But those who are able to nab a reservation will be treated to more than just fantastic views.
The restaurant, which is open from 11 a.m. to midnight every day, serves up a four-course lunch and six-course dinner.
The lunch menu includes lighter fare like sous vide bresse chicken with mushroom risotto while the dinner menu features a decadent parade of treats like caviar, prawn tartare, lobster-stuffed pasta with burrata and a veal tenderloin. Prices start at about $120 for lunch for hotel guests.

Ithaa claimed to be the world’s first undersea restaurant when it opened in 2005. But those who want to dine here should make a reservation quick: The building’s architecture firm estimates that the structure, because it’s under extreme conditions, will only last 20 years.
The space is also available to rent for weddings or special occasions for a decadent Maldives getaway.
