Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann was one of the best parts of the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. From her corset comebacks to her surprising swashbuckling skills, we loved watching her onscreen. Now, PotC fans have a reason to get excited because Keira Knightley might be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean for next year’s movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales!
TooFab broke the news. They write:
”Sources close to the production told TooFab that the Oscar-nominated actress has already secretly shot scenes for the upcoming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,’ due in theaters this May.”
Apparently, Keira’s role in Dead Men Tell No Tales is a “small cameo during the end credits” that hints at a bigger role in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
We already knew that Orlando Bloom is reprising his role as Will Turner in Dead Man Tell No Tales. This news makes us even more excited.
However, CinemaBlend points out that Keira’s return is “little more than a rumor at this point,” although it “makes perfect sense”:
“With Will returning for the new sequel, it seems only natural that Elizabeth and their son would return as well. Alas, we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement to confirm Keira Knightley’s involvement in the sequel.”
And in fact, in 2014 Keira said she wouldn’t return to the franchise.
“My time has definitely passed, I loved it, it was an amazing experience but I won’t be going back,” she told BBC Radio 2.
However, that was more than two years ago and maybe Keira’s changed her mind? Stranger things have happened! Especially when there are pirates involved.
