Videos Jessie J – ‘Who's Laughing Now'
Jennifer Still

I’ve always been vocal about my love for Jessie J, so it should come as no surprise that the release of the video for her new single ‘Who’s Laughing Now’ would be shared here.

While not initially one of my favourite songs from Jessie’s debut album Who You Are, it does serve as one of her most personal tracks and one with a message that anyone who’s experienced bullying can relate to and find strength in.

Despite having grown into a confident and successful 23-year-old, Jessie was often taunted and teased by her schoolmates as a kid for everything from a skin discolouration resulting from a health condition to her “Bugs Bunny” teeth. Having experienced such treatment on behalf of her peers, she wrote ‘Who’s Laughing Now’.

The song, she recently revealed, has been the subject of letters from many of her fans, who say that it allowed them to finally overcome the humiliation and pain of their own bullying experiences.

“Music is about making a change but also being able to laugh at yourself. I think this song tells a story a lot of people have been through and I hope it will raise awareness to the serious issue of bullying,” she said regarding the release of ‘Who’s Laughing Now’.

I think that’s a pretty great message to have.
