Item of the Day: Tamagotchi L.I.F.E.

It’s Valentine’s Day and nostalgia has upped its ante with a free app called “Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.” (Love is fun everywhere). Back in the ’90s, kids would often give these little keychain-sized virtual pets to their crushes. In grade school, that was a serious sign of affection!

If you missed the ’90s craze, Tamagotchi captured the hearts of nearly 80 million. A simulation game, tiny alien species deposited eggs on Earth to see what life was like, and you were responsible for raising that egg into an adult creature.

The app is is an authentic recreation, with three distinctive modes. “TOY” mode replicates the 16-bit black and white character pixels (for all you romantics). “APP” mode presents an updated version with color, higher resolution and an illustrated guide. “ROCK PAPER SCISSORS” presents mini-game mode – if your pets win, the happier they’ll become… and, you can share your progress on Facebook. Additionally, the more Tamagotchis you collect, the more you’ll unlock different “shells” and wallpaper.

If you wanna dig deeper into the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. brand, check out their website where you can connect with other fans, watch their webseries and nominate a difference maker in your community for a “Hometown Hero” award!! Every two months a winner will be awarded a $5000 charitable contribution.

Game Company, Bandai, says: “Fans who grew up with Tamagotchi are today, positive, assured, intrepid, cooperative and empowering … when you factor in its modern-day update with a trendsetting focus, you’ll understand what Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is all about.”

Download it today and find love in the many pets you can grow! The free App is available on Android and very soon on iOS.

I didn’t have an actual Tamagotchi growing up. I’m in my twenties and I still have to figure out how to prevent my virtual pet from dying. All in all, it’s cute and I’m loving it.
