ITEM OF THE DAY Item of the Day: Rust-Oleum Specialty Chalk Board
Rachael Berkey

I wrote on the walls a lot as a kid.

Don’t judge me. I liked to draw. The crayons were there. And the wall was a lot bigger than the measly piece of paper my parents provided. I also loved drawing on the sidewalk, creating hopscotch boards and playing foursquare in a homemade court on the driveway.

It’s less fun as an adult. I don’t have access to a lot of chalkboards.

Until now.

This may not seem like the most groundbreaking item of the day. You may even be thinking, “Seriously? It’s paint from the hardware store.”

You are not seeing the possibilities of this stuff!

I could do a whole wall and keep all sorts of lists and charts and organizational tools to get my life in order.

I could leave my roommates sassy notes about doing the dishes and our next fabulous dinner party.

I could draw embarrassing pictures that will inevitably never get erased, even our parents come to visit or I’m trying to impress someone with my classy place.

The use I’m trying first I found on Pinterest. Say goodbye to wine glass toggles ladies! I’m dipping all my stemware so there’s no more confusion!

Here’s an example of the awesome possibilities from the web:

  1. when my boyfriend and i are moving in together in september we’re gonna paint the coffee table with that stuff so that we can draw drinking games on it :D

  2. I was always very interested in chalkboard paints. My mom even gave me a recipe to make my own before stores started selling it. But I’m always weary to paint walls with it because I have no clue how easy it will be to paint over it since I’m a renter.

Also, there is chalkboard spray paint now!!
