ITEM OF THE DAY Item Of The Day

There are two little indulgences that I love more than anything else in the entire world: Arizona Iced Tea and LUSH Handmade Cosmetics. Luckily for me, Arizona is relatively inexpensive, leaving me extra pennies to splurge on the slightly-more-pricey LUSH products. Handmade in Canada from all organic (and mostly vegan!) products, LUSH’s products are exactly what the name states: lush. They are the perfect indulgence for when you want to feel and look your best.

Their products range from solid shampoos which waste less and clean more to lip balms and scrubs that you won’t feel guilty about eating since they’re all natural, to face masks so fresh you can only buy them in stores, to their ever so popular bath bombs which turn bath-time into a full sensory experience. For a full list of products, visit LUSH.com!

Here are some of my favorite LUSH products and why:

  • Mask of Magnaminty $22.95 The only face mask you can buy online, this cooling minty mask serves also as a cleanser and a scrub. 3-in-1! I love putting this all over my face once a week, putting some mellow music like Sufjan Stevens or Damien Rice on my iPod, and drifting off into dreamland. It’s infused with peppermint oil, so it cools while it’s hardening, which makes it perfect for hot summer days.
  • Honey Trap Lip Balm $6.95 I have badly chapped lips and absolutely no lip balms or chap sticks have been able to cure them. That is, until I found Honey Trap. It goes on a little heavy and thick at first, but after a few minutes, it literally melts onto your lips and feels like heaven. It also lasts for hours, so a little bit ends up going a long way (which is good if you’re feeling guilty about spending $6.95 on a tiny tin of lip balm).
  • LUSH Soaps $5.95-8.95 With such a variety of soaps with such a variety of scents and purposes, it was impossible for me to pick just one. I’ve used a few of these now and none have yet to disappoint. Sea Vegetable Soap, Sexy Peel, and Karma Soap are probably among my personal favorite though. They’re pretty, they smell delicious, and best of all, they get you clean. Some tend not to get as sudsy as others, but they’re still all fantastic nonetheless.
  • Big Blue Bath Bomb $6.35 Now I’ll admit that I haven’t tried any other bath bombs yet (expensive bath products on a post-college-barely-with-a-paying-job-yet budget have to be limited to either dire or celebratory situations, neither of which I’ve had many of since I’ve gotten into LUSH) but even if I did, this would probably still be among my favorite. Lavender and citrus scented, it smells absolutely dreamy, and it (literally) turns your bath into a big blue ocean (hence the name), complete with sea salt and seaweed. It also fizzes around the tub when you drop it in, adding an additional element of fun to your bath.
If you have a LUSH store near you, I would recommend physically visiting one versus ordering online only so that you can smell/test each of the products before you buy them (based on the online description and reviews, I was all ready to buy this one soap but then I smelled it in the store and I’m glad that I didn’t because I wasn’t too fond of the smell), however I’ve ordered most of mine online and haven’t been disappointed. Another plus to visiting the store in-person is that you can usually get away with some free samples. Who doesn’t love free stuff? To find a store in your area, consult this list or just Google it, silly!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a day full of LUSH pampering ahead of me with my Arizona boyfriend-in-a-can, Arnold Palmer. ;)

  1. i’ve dyed my hair with lush’s henna (caca brun) and it always turns out looking beautiful!

  2. I just bought a new box for my lush stash! :D I love LOVE LOVE Cynthia Sylvia Stout, Rehab and R&B. Those products saved my hair. :D

  3. The shampoo is the best ever made, free of all that crap that makes scalp and hair go bye-bye.

  4. Karma soap is beautiful, and makes me feel squeekily clean!

  5. I had a lush spa experience (the synaesthesia treatment) bought for me from my other half as a surprise birthday treatment and it was out of this world, i thoroughly recommend the lush spa if your ever near by to one. As for the lush products themselves i pretty much use nothing but lush, shampoo bar ultimate shine i’ve used for nearly 10 years and i cant ever see that changing , conditioner American Cream, moisturiser Celestial , ocean salt scrub is one of my favourites, lip balms ooh and the Jackie Oates colour supplement which is perfect for my pale skin. I love Lush!!

  6. I’m totally a Lush fan when it comes to their skin care product!! Love the Ocean Salt and Angels on Bare skin scrub, their creams and body lotions as well as the Sexy Peel Soap. However, as much as I love their concept of solid shampoos and other Eco friendly ventures, I didn’t find their hair products to be the best match for me. But all in all. Lush is the best way to bathe!!!

  7. The Snow Fairy body wash smells amazing. It’s only around seasonally and I keep some in stock for the rest of the months. I use it for special occasions because it has tiny tiny glitter specks and smells like glorious sugar. If you were ever has the XXX Vitamin Water, I feel like that tastes exactly how this body wash smells. Intoxicating!

  8. You must try the you snap the whip body butter, it’s got charcoal in it so when you use it in the shower you become covered in a weird black grime thing. That smells awesome. And washes off easily obviously. The ladies who work in the store are always lovely too, almost every time I go in I get a hand massage. Weird but I like it.

  9. I’ve been wondering how long it would be until a Lush post popped up! I work there and dudes it is a wonderful addiction!

  10. I actually have a lush problem. It is my favorite thing in the entire world.

  11. I make my own decadently deliscious (reiki-infused) soaps and bath bombs but I still love some of Lush’s stuff. However your claim that they are all natural and/or organic is not true. A quick scan of their ingredient lists proves otherwise. I still love the Sex Bomb tho. Facebook: Love Lola Blue

  12. How can anyone leave out their shower jellies? In addition to their selection, I also love that there’s usually something within my $10 budget.

  13. I keep a tube of the Tuca Tuca solid perfume in my purse at all times! Favorite product

  14. Pineapple Grunt and Banana Moon soaps and the MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment bath melt. I dare you not to eat just a little bit! ;)

  15. I la la love Lush! I randomly stumbled upon their stores in LA once and my skin has never been better! I use the mask of Magnaminty like twice a month as well as a face wash and it not only goes a long way but leaves my skin feeling and looking amazing <3

  16. WOW… i could seriously look at the LUSH website for hours and want everything on it! I’m tempted to try the body tint for my glowing white legs, and every type of soap they make!

  17. There are LUSH stores all over the UK! I’m in love with the Jungle solid hair conditioner–its light and feels and smells great!

  18. The comforter bubble bar: the greatest investment in the store. You can use it like ten times before it runs out.

  19. Hello my name is Siera and I’m a Lushaholic.

I was actually there just yesterday and to my dismay they were sold out of 2 of my fav products…I guess I’ll just have to go back next week
