I’m pretty much the least likely person to do yoga that you’ll ever meet on your life. Truly. It’s not that I don’t care about flexibility or well-being, it’s that I have a tiny room and not a lot of patience and, since I work at home, I prefer to take my workouts outdoors and do some jogging, which provides more cardio.
However, working 12+ hours a day at my computer has lately wreaked havoc on my back and I’ve ended up with some soreness in my lower back at the end of the day, which I was NOT happy about. I found some stretches online to do to help things out, and many of them were based in yoga, which is how I decided to just give in and try it out for real.
I needed a good standard yoga mat (and a bag to put it in), so I went to Gaiam, as it’s one brand you always think of when you think of yoga – at least I do! I picked up the Tree of Life set that included the mat, metal water bottle (keep that hydration poppin’!) and a mat bag with the tree design on it. I love me a bargain, so I was stoked at the affordable price ($53!), and the products don’t disappoint.
The mat is just soft enough to shield me from the discomfort of my apartment’s hard wood floors, and it rolls up nicely in the canvas bag afterwards and hangs on my closet door perfectly. Of course, this set would transport well if you actually go to yoga classes (I’m not quite confident enough for that just yet), and the water bottle is something I use on the daily, constantly refilling it to get in my requisite 8+ glasses (which for me is more like 18). LOVE this. Oh, and my back pain is totally gone now!
You can get your own Tree of Life Yoga Kit for $53 at Gaiam.com – you won’t be sorry!
