ITEM OF THE DAY Item Of The Day
Tatti Ribeiro

I was kind of anti-social at summer camps and only wanted to play by myself. I needed to find really good solo activities that I could do alone and that really limited my options. Thankfully, someone feeling my loner pain invented this game that I could play all by myself: the Skip-It. It’s this semi-weird contraption that has a weighted ball at one end and a hole for your ankle at the other. You would just skip around it endlessly. I got really into it and would go for hours. Thank you, Skip-It. You made my summer camp days memorable and enjoyable.

  1. i wanted one of these sooooo bad when i was a kid! i think one of my friends had one though that i played with sometimes. and why does that girl look so much like Vada from My Girl?!

  2. I absolutely loved my skip it! I actually was just trying to find one for my niece and had no luck…

  3. how funny!! my co-workers and i were just talking about this the other day! we wanted to buy one off of ebay and have a skip-it-athon and see who can do it the most times. lol

  4. I still have one. I use it a lot. And it’s really funny watching my brothers try and use it.

  5. i got two for a birthday once. it took me a while to get the hang of it (and hurt my ankles and shins in the process, but thats okay…). I remember my sister and I would have contests, and would do that for HOURs… oh good times…

  6. I had that yellow one! I used it until it flat-out snapped in half. It also made me popular on the playground for a time. (:

  7. skip it! oh how i loved you until I whacked myself in the ankle with you, sprained it, threw you in the trash, and hoped to never see you again. :)

  8. i also still have mine! it’s blue.

  9. “but the very best thing of all… there’s a .. counter on this ball!”

  10. Childhood photos of me look just like this kid. Full on bangs, yeah!!!

  11. Ladies, Skip-it would be a great aerobic exercise now that I think of it. Someone needs to capitalize on that, pronto.

  12. ahhh the good ole days, I never owned one personally but always wanted to borrow friends

  13. I remember Skip Its!! I got one at a yard sale one day with my mom, loved playing with it, and remember those commercials?! haha

  14. I wish I still had my skip-it!! I miss her so…

  15. I honestly hoped the item of the day was that outfit, so I could find out where to get one

  16. I’m not gonna lie; I still play with my Skip-It sometimes! We had company this week and the 4-year old boy found it and was trying to use it, but he was mostly just jumping around, dragging it behind him like a ball and chain. We were cracking up just watching him!

  17. OH MAN i totally had a skip-it! i even remember the jingle. haven’t thought about that in years! even had a counter!

  18. I still have one!!! It’s purple and I’m not ashamed to say I still use it…
