I’m a total Harry Potter geek, so when I saw this little light switch plate on Etsy I was smitten. It says “Lumos” in the on position and “Nox”, of course, when your lights are turned off. It’s completely handmade, right down to the signature letters. And it’s only seven bucks!

I like simple little ways to inject my house with fun (and magic) and this fits the bill. Any other HP fan will totally get the reference, while other guests will be curiously trying to figure out if Lumos is Latin for “on.” The Etsy shop is appropriately titled Crafty Muggle and she’ll even send your switch plate in an Owl Post stamped envelope.
