ITEM OF THE DAYItem of the DayJennifer Still

Guys, y’all know your girl doesn’t do a lot of beauty products. But the ones I do? I go all out for them. I know this is very Jo March of me, but one of my greatest luxuries is my hair. I prefer it long, but I treat it terribly, generally – I only get it cut about once a year, I do boxed dyes and I try to comb out knots when it’s wet. I also blow dry it all the time and straighten it with some cheap-ass $10 straightener. As you can imagine, that’s not the best recipe for amazing hair. I tend to get lots of split ends and breakage.

Instead of changing my ways, I like to think that there’s a miracle product out there that can fix the damage I inflict every day… and you know what? I think I’ve found it!

One thing I don’t mind shelling out cash for is stuff for my hair (and mascara, but that’s a whole other story). I really love the feeling that I’m in a salon, and salon-quality products smell like I’m there, which saves me an actual trip (LOL). That’s why I’m diggin’ hard on Phyto‘s new Repairing Collection.

The three part system comes with shampoo, conditioner and a serum (to be applied to towel-dried hair before styling). You can buy the products separately, but the whole thing is worth the price – plus, it gets you a significant discount. If you’re like me, you find small thrills in fancy beauty products, so the fact that the shampoo and conditioner are packaged in metal bottles is an added perk.

The secret apparently lies in a keratin filler (which helps your hair absorb more moisture) and rice bran ceramides, which restore softness and shine. I’ve been using this stuff for about a week now and I absolutely adore it. In addition to that “I’ve just been at the salon” scent, my hair does actually feel a bit stronger. It’s smoother when I let it dry naturally and not as insane (I deal with a LOT of frizz), and I don’t notice my split ends as often. I know they’re still there, mind, but I don’t notice them. I want immediate gratification. Duh!

If you’re like me and treat your hair like crap, treat it like… un-crap? and hook yourself up with this kit.
