ITEM OF THE DAY
Item of the Day
by Karen Belz
It’s almost 2012. By this point, they make calendars for pretty much everything – both for your wall, and your desk. (A Harry Potter LEGO calendar? Available. Treehouses of the World? Yes, that’s a thing.) If you’re like me, you probably buy a daily desk calendar (like “Word of the Day”) at the start of the year, and forget about for about two months, and suddenly learn 62 new words in one day.
However, this is one calendar that is begging you not to ignore it – especially if you’re into dudes, and also like puppies and kittens.
Currently available at Urban Outfitters is the Hot Guys & Baby Animals Calendar by Audrey Khuner and Carolyn Newman. And – Audrey and Carolyn? Kudos. Seriously, you guys. My 2011 has been sub par, at best. I’m not going to tell you that my go-to cheer-up image isn’t the picture of the kitten in the box of Pop Tarts. Yet now you’ve raised the stakes, and put studly men into the equation as well – for an entire year! Audrey and Carolyn – if you’re ever in my area, a round is on me.
I must add that not only have the two of you paired puppies with masculine men, but you’ve inserted quippy one-liners as well. I love quippy one-liners! How can you seriously hate the month of February when you learn that “Johnny Grew Up In New Jersey; Tank and Coco prefer New Yorkie”? (By the way, Tank and Coco are Yorkie puppies. Adorable ones, at that.)
So if you’re currently stressed about what calendar to buy for the upcoming year (and who isn’t, am I right? It totally haunts me on a daily basis) consider Hot Guys & Baby Animals. If you put it up in your office, you’re bound to make a ton of new girlfriends. You might have to explain yourself to your boss, but – I think it’s a risk worth taking.
