Milk and Cookies and an Instant MovieInstant Movie: ‘Big Trouble In Little China' (1986)Myrna Valadez

It has finally happened! Sure, I own this film and I’ve seen it about a thousand times but it still makes me ecstatic to see that Big Trouble In Little China (1986) is finally available on Netflix Instant! *APPLAUSE* I am overjoyed to bring this movie to your attention this week because not only is it my favorite action film, but it also happens to be one of the best ‘so bad its good’ movies from the ‘80s! Dare I say this is the best action movie EVER?! Yes, this is the best action movie ever made. Of course, you should take my word for it because I know what I’m talking about, but you should also watch it for yourself because:

  1. It stars Kurt Russell. I don’t think I need to elaborate anymore because it’s Kurt Russell.
  2. It also stars a very young and gorgeous Kim Cattrall. Be forewarned, she is nothing like Samantha Jones in this flick!
  3. There are monsters, bad guys with super powers and this really creepy guy with gross nails. Exactly what is needed in every action movie!
  4. It’s directed by John Carpenter, the genius behind the Halloween series!
  5. You’ll be quoting this for the rest of your life, trust me. I’m amazed I have friends at all considering how much I quote it: “This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I’m talkin’ to whoever’s listenin’ out there.”
Clear the room and make sure your milk and cookies are in a safe spot. Why? After watching this adventure, you’ll be trying to do some some serious karate moves in your living room. Seriously.

  1. My husband dressed up as Jack Burton for Halloween this last year. Only a few select AWESOME people really knew who he was and loved it. He found an exact replica of his tank online.

  2. I own this and it’s sheer awesome. xoxo

  3. Remember what ol’ Jack Burton used to say. “What the hell.”

My family and I quote this nonstop. My 5 year old nephew has started doing it as well, I consider this a huge accomplishment.

  4. YES! I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

  5. This is one of my dad’s favorite movies. I got the bluray for him for Christmas last year. So much fun!
