Milk and Cookies and an Instant Movie

Instant Movie: A Hard Day's Night (1964)

The summer of my eighth year was very memorable, my life took a pivotal turn. This was the summer I rented A Hard Day’s Night (1964) and I watched it every single day. To say I am a fan of this film is an understatement; it’s definitely in my Top Ten. This movie made me fall in love with The Beatles. I mean, I loved their music but I also loved their personas on film (that’s fancy talk for: they’re fun!). This week, pencil in a movie night with this one, you can’t miss:

  1. Lots of Beatles classic. From ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ to ‘She Loves You’.
  2. The Liverpool accents. Totally adorbs!
  3. It has legit fashion. I love all the mod clothes, the big hair and even bigger eyeliner!
  4. If you don’t have a favorite Beatle, shame on you. Watch this film, by the end, you will. I’ve been a Ringo-gal since day one.
  5. This is one of those films that you have to see just because it’s a classic! The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz and Grease are in the same league. Please don’t be the person who never saw A Hard Day’s Night…please.
So brew up some tea and grab the biscuits. Park your knickers on the couch and be ready to go back in time. A time that had amazing music, the best fashion and of course, the cute boys.

I saw Help first and will always hold a place in my heart but A Hard Days Night is the best. The grandfather. George meeting

I love the scene with John Lennon and the woman who thinks he looks just like John Lennon, ha! “You look more like him than I do!”

  • Kristen Dupré

One of my top five favorite movies of all time! “Paul’s grandfather, he’s very clean”
The boys comedic timing was perfect. Love it.

“He’s a king mixer, that one.”

I’ve seen it so many times that sometimes when I’m bored I just watch it in my head. George in the ad agency’s office? Genius. The whole film. So great. You know Phil Collins was in the audience at the end? As if fate throwing that man success after Peter Gabriel left Genesis wasn’t unfair enough.

I love that entire “grotty” scene, I also love when George falls at the beginning and is trampled by the fan girls! I never knew Phil Collins was in the audience, he sold his soul to the devil I’m sure.

“She’s a drag. A well-known drag. We turn the sound down on her and say rude things.” “He’s knocking the program’s image! Get him out!”
