HelloGiggles' Best of 2011 Playlist!Jennifer Still

I’m one of those people that always feels out of touch with the “pulse” of pop music because I rarely listen to the radio. Who has time – not to mention the patience – to tune in? Sure, I’ll pop on Radio 1 on occasion if an artist I like is scheduled to be on the Live Lounge or something, but generally I rely on my internet prowess to keep me up to date on what’s happening in the world of song. This means, of course, that I often miss out on big releases until well after the fact. However, somehow that didn’t happen this year and I managed to stay on top of mostly all of what I consider to be the best releases.

So I’ve compiled a Spotify playlist containing 27 of the HelloGiggles team’s favourite tracks from this year – this is not a complete list by any means (your time is limited, I figure) but hits all the major tracks.

  1. Florence + the Machine and Friendly Fires XD

  2. Wild Beasts!

  3. Ah, Friendly Fires :) Ed’s dancing alone in that video merits it being an awesome tune.

  4. #11. YESSS – Love!

  5. I LOVE that you included The Civil Wars. One of my favorites

  6. great playlist! You need some mumford and sons and Bon Iver there too.

  7. The only band lacking is Foster the People. I cannot praise their album Torches enough…I can listen to it from start to finish without skipping a single song, and that’s really rare for me.

  8. Where’s the country?
    :(

  9. “Shake It Out” is #1 on my list as well!!!!!!

    Happy listening and thanks Jennifer!

  12. Where’s LMFAO “Sexy and I Know It”?! It’s so awesome my husband dances to it! (And he hates top 40 pop music usually). Loving the Adele, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga songs on here!

  13. I love that you have Childish Gambino on here! Good song! Donald Glover is AWESOME!

  14. Niiice. Especially awesome to see The Fleet Foxes on there, how I love them! And Chinatown! Such a random song, glad to see it on here, too. It didn’t really stand out to me, but I listened to it ALOT…

  15. Gasp! This is great! Not because I think it’s comprehensive, I’ve never heard most of these songs. But now I get to learn them! Yay. :)
