This "Harry Potter" running club is using the magic of fandom to help save the world

Warner Bros.

It seems Harry Potter is all around us, always, even when there’s not a new Harry Potter movie out. Now, we found out that this Harry Potter running club is using the magic of fandom to help save the world, as Brit + Co reported. And why not, right? After all, there are Hogwarts school sweaters and Harry Potter-themed makeup palettes. So why not a running club, too?!

What exactly is a Harry Potter running club?!

It’s actually called the Hogwarts Running Club and is a nonprofit organization that holds virtual races inspired by Harry Potter. Yup, it’s as magical as it sounds!

The money raised then benefits various charities. So far, the organization has donated over $800,000 (!) to many, many important causes. The charities range from ones that benefit youth and veterans to animals and the environment.

The best part?

Participants can complete the runs on their schedule. Yes, this means at any location, any time, and any pace, according to Brit + Co. It sounds like a win-win for sure.

Yup, it’s inspired by the final fight against Voldemort’s Death Eaters and can help “rip the mask off of the stigma of mental illnesses,” according to the Hogwarts Running Club.

Clever and rewarding?! Sign. Us. Up!

And, yes, there’s Harry Potter-themed swag with each race, of course.

Gryffindor Janeth (@bsbrock) says the heat slowed her down at the 2017 Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. But nothing could stop her from finishing! Great job, Janeth! __________________________________ We are proud to partner with @TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms) for the #Unmasked10Miler to help them erase the stigmas of seeking mental health support and offer hope to people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. All in all, the Hogwarts Running Club sums up their mission best.

“With our charity partners, we are changing the muggle-world one mile at a time,” their website states.

Enough said! Like we mentioned above, sign us up! And see you at the finish line…!
