Happy Santa's List Day! Rachel Hintz

December 4th is Santa’s List Day!

Origin

You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. Because Santa is making his list, checking it twice, and now that it is December, it is crunch time to get on Santa’s Nice list.

He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. He knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake. But let’s take a step back for a moment. If he sees you when you are sleeping… that’s a little off-putting. I mean, sorry Santa, but I’d rather you not watch me while I sleep or keep track of where I am when I’m awake. Even as a child I didn’t fall for this one. It’s just not physically possible, for one, but also I am pretty sure Santa is not a creeper. Part of being on the “nice” list is being trustworthy enough to not require 24/7 surveillance to keep you in line.

Nevertheless, today is Santa’s List Day. A good day to step back and take a look at your year. Do you think that you would fall into the Naughty List or the Nice List? As Christmas approaches, we should be thinking about the way we live our lives, whether or not Santa is keeping an eye on us.

How to Celebrate

Watch a Christmas movie tonight. Make some hot chocolate, enjoy a few freshly baked cookies, and get into the Christmas spirit. Tis the season!

Make a “Santa’s List” of your own. It is the season of giving after all, and sometimes we get lost in the Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday steals. It can be easy to focus on what we want for ourselves, so try to be observant about your loved ones and what they need. Come up with thoughtful gifts this holiday season. Don’t wait until the last minute… only 20 more shopping days left til Christmas, so start your list!

Make a personal goals lists. In light of the idea of Santa’s Naughty and Nice Lists, what are some things that you would like to improve in your life? This is great New Years resolution prep.

Quote of the Day

“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” – Charles Dickens
