"The Great British Bake Off" announced their new hosts, and we're optimistic!

The Great British Bake Off is our favorite thing to watch on Netflix when we’re sick. Or the weather is bad and we’re stuck inside. Or just on a normal, average day when everything is fine. Real talk, there’s really no bad time to watch this cozy, wonderful show about baking.

So heads up! Bake Off diehards need to prep themselves for a big change. Because we’re about to get some brand new hosts!

As fans found out in September, judges Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins announced that they would not move with The Great British Bake Off from the BBC to Channel 4.

Though we will miss Mel and Sue very much, their hosting replacements were just announced and they sound super-promising. Comedians Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig OBE ( and Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her services in broadcasting)  will be stepping up to the plate.

Also, judge Mary Berry, who also chose not to move to Channel 4, will be replaced by restauranteur and television personality Prue Leith. Which means Paul Hollywood will be both the sole original judge left and the sole original member of the team.

That’s a LOT of change for The Great British Bake Off. And change is hard. But change can also be great!

We had a good run with Mel, Sue, and Mary, and we’re cautiously optimistic about these new judges. Let’s run them down, shall we?

Noel Fielding is probably best known as a member of the comedic troupe the Mighty Boosh. Meanwhile, Sandi Toksvig is an old hosting pro. Lady has credits like the BBC quiz show QI and The News Quiz Show on BBC Radio 4 to her name.

Meanwhile, Prue Leith has been in the food business since the 1960s. In her long and storied career, has opened a Michelin starred restaurant, founded a food school, worked as a food columnist for basically all the major British papers, and has some prior TV judging experience, having been a judge on the BBC’s Great British Menu.

So we feel like we’re in pretty great hands. And Channel 4’s chief creative officer Jay Hunt feels like we’re in great hands, too. As he said in a recent statement:

Paul and Prue have huge amounts of expertise and warmth. I’m looking forward to seeing them putting our great new bunch of amateur bakers through their paces. Sandi and Noel bring a fresh wit and quirkiness to the tent.

Okay, fingers crossed that this upcoming fall season of The Great British Bake Off is the best one yet! We’re a little nervous…

… but we’re also SO EXCITED because more Great British Bake Off, yay, yay, yay!
