10 "Full House" quotes that we now use in everyday conversation

ABC Photo Archives/ Gett Images

Even though the original Full House has been off the air for over 20 years now, we still can’t get enough of it. Case in point? The fact that Fuller House not only exists, but was renewed for a second season less than a week after the first season aired on Netflix.

If you’re a child of the late ’80s/early ’90s, you might especially have a connection to Full House, whose storylines and dialogue were so cheesy we couldn’t help but love them – especially as kids who could relate to sisters D.J., Stephanie, and Michelle in so many ways.

But no matter who your Full House kindred spirit was, it’s safe to say there are quite a few memorable phrases from our favorite TGIF darling that still hold up today in everyday conversation. Here are just a few that we find ourselves saying on the regular.

“You got it, dude.” – Michelle Tanner
When to use it: When someone asks you to do a favor you really don’t mind doing, or runs something by you and asks for approval that you’re ready to give.

“YOU. ARE. NOT. WELCOME.” – Michelle Tanner
When to use it:
When someone says they’d “really appreciate it if” you could attend this meeting at 4:30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon and you have no choice. And then they go on to thank you profusely at the end, making the meeting drag on even longer to the point where you almost miss happy hour.

“How rude!” – Stephanie Tanner
When to use it:
When someone badmouths something they know you really love, right in front of you. Bonus rudeness points if they know other people will agree audibly.

“Have mercy!” – Jesse Katsopolis
When to use it:
When you’re turned on and/or when any hottie enters a room – especially if said hottie is John Stamos. Also, do people say “hottie” anymore?

“OH, PUH-LEEEZE.” – Michelle Tanner
When to use it:
When someone is totally schmoozing or telling a big fat lie and everyone around you is fooled, but you aren’t.

“Cut. It. Out.” – Joey Gladstone
When to use it:
For those times when you want someone to stop talking/making bad jokes, but you don’t want to say it directly so you try to joke back and hope it works.

“Well, pin a rose on your nose.” – Stephanie Tanner
When to use it:
When someone gets something you really wanted/feel like you deserve. Like that time Michelle was crowned Princess for the Day at Walt Disney World and poor Stephanie just had to deal with it AS USUAL.

“Oh, Mylanta!” – D.J. Tanner
When to use it:
When the guy/gal you’ve had a thing for finally pays you a compliment, asks you out, or just asks you what day it is.

“You’re in big trouble, mister!” – Michelle Tanner
When to use it:
When your sibling forgets to send your niece or nephew a birthday card, and you know they’re totally in for it from your mom.

“WHOA, BABY!” – Various Characters
When to use it:
When you literally have no other words for the insanity unfolding in front of you. Similar to “Have mercy,” but more generic and not necessarily hottie-oriented.
