Scripts, books, and short stories

I was sitting at home today, looking for any reason not to study for my upcoming biology test and decided to go through the books I had in my room. I always thought I had bad taste in literature or wasn't well read, but going through my books today I have changed m mind. Here is a list of my favorite books, scripts, and short stories I have in my personal library.

Shakespearean Comedies- I own several of Shakespeare's comedies. Much Ado About Nothing, Love's Labors Lost, Two Gentlemen of Verona, As You Like It, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Taming of the Shrew

Oscar Wild- A Picture of Dorian Grey and a copy of his Fairy-tales. Something people may not know about Oscar Wild is he was very religious before he came out of the closet, was imprisoned, and lost all his money. All of his Fairy-tales are metaphors and allegories about Christianity. Even if you aren't religious, his short stories and fairy-tales are very entertaining.

The first 2 books in A Song of Ice and Fire series- Even if you haven't seen the AMAZING HBO series, Game of Thrones, you should read these books. There kind of a sexed up version of LOTR or The Chronicles of Narnia. They're fantastic!

Shakespearean Tragedies- King Lear, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet (I actually don't like the play), and Hamlet

The Hunger Game Trilogy, The Harry Potter Book series, The Anne o Green Gables series, The Twilight saga, The Pride and Prejudice and Zombies series

Buried Child -A play by Sam Shepard. DON'T READ THE BACK COVER BEFORE YOU READ THE PLAY!!! It ruins it!

House of Leaves- This is the scariest book in the WORLD. It gave me nightmares.

So there is my portion of my personal Library. I don't have bad taste in literature, it's just unusual. I mean who has Shakespeare and Twilight in the same bookshelf? Well, I do!

First of all, I love this picture!!
I have been slowly but surely reading my way through Shakespeare. Much Ado About Noting is my favorite comedy and Hamlet is my favorite tragedy, probably because they're both among the more popular works so I already knew something about the stories which made them easier to follow. I spent a good chunk of The Taming of the Shrew trying to remember who the characters were (ahem, Shakespeare, was it REALLY necessary to have a Gremio and a Grumio??), who was in disguise, etc. I'm about 1/3 of the way through The Winter's Tale right now, the jury's still out. :)
Have you read The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde?

I have read the Importance of Being Earnest. It is one of my favorite plays in the world. I do not own a copy yet. I have been trying to find a complete works of Oscar Wild. I love all of his plays and his poems are very good as well, the do get very dark after his trials and exile. I believe the picture is from a museum in Chicago, but I'm not completely sure.

I do love Taming of the Shrew. It does get confusing, especially with it being a play within a play. I would read A Midsummer Night's Dream next. It is confusing because there are multiple story lines, but I found it to be the easiest comedy to read. Much Ado About Nothing is my favorite comedy. i've seen 4 productions of the show and it just gets better every time.

I have read A Midsummer Night's Dream already and I did enjoy it. I was thinking about King Lear next, although it was initially recommended to me by a friend who loved it but does not like Hamlet. Since I do like Hamlet I find myself wondering whether or not I'll like King Lear. I'd really like to see a performance of The Taming of the Shrew, it seems like a director could go so many different ways with it.
I loved the Importance of Being Earnest so much the only downside is that when I read An Ideal Husband I felt just a little disappointed because I didn't love it as much. I'm going to have to give Oscar Wilde another try. :)

King Lear is my favorite Shakespeare play and I also like Hamlet. I do think it's a little over rated. have you read A Picture of Dorian Gray? If not, it's amazing. It's not like Wilde's plays. It's very dark, but it still has some comedy in it.

A few years ago I bought a book set from Barnes and Noble with a bunch of classic books (Jane Eye, Moby *, War and Peace, Don Quixote, Great Expectations and Brothers Karamozav). So my shelf also has these greats along with the Twilight Series! I don't think it's even so much about the books you read as it is how much you enjoy them. People say quality over quantity which I do agree with but I put joy over both of those.

And I love that picture! I want to post it to Pinterest now lol.

I have quite the range of things on my bookshelf too

Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks is a really interesting study of music from a psychological and medical standpoint.
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins
I have a lot of period pieces: pride and prejudice, little women, a room with a view, wuthering heights, Jane eyre, Emma, etc.

Some teen lit like Harry Potter, His Dark Materials series, the chronicles of Narnia The Mortal instruments series, Catcher in the Rye, and The Outsiders.

Dystopian novels like 1984 and Never Let Me Go

Russian lit like Notes from the Underground and Lolita, some Shakespeare.I really like The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath as well.

I have a lot of other stuff as well, but yeah I have a really wide range of tastes too pretty much like my taste in music.
