I totally thought of you (Sarah) and Jess yesterday! There was a talk show on and it was about migrations and the reasons for them. The guests all had to do something with Australia or Argentina! There was a woman from Argentina, who was of Slovenian descent and lives here now, a woman who is moving to Australia, a man from Australia who is living here and a Slovene woman froma Australia who lives here now (confuzing, I know )

Apparently 150 people from Slovenia move to Australia every year, and about 25.000 live there at the moment.

As for Argentina, many Slovenians migrated there at the end of 19th/beginning of 20th century, about 30.000 people are members of Slovene society ! They are quite impressive - over a century later the 3rd generation is still learning our language, they have choirs and folclore groups, they cook our traditional food and they come to Slovenia for their end of highschool trip. (*According to Wikipedia around 100.000 Slovenes live in Argentina all together) Obviously the talk show facsinated me!

IOkay, where is everyone? :(

Hey!!! I'm here!!
I'm back and with a brand new computer (that sort of looks like the old one but it's definitely new!).
I missed a lot of things and I'll try to catch up by reading months of my own absence. I missed you guys and our conversations about everything! I wish I had all of you on Twitter/Facebook. I had limited access to those on my cell-phone (I need an IPhone btw).
I realized that I can live without a computer, but I don't like it.

Welcome back :) It was a little less fun without you ;)
Haha, I can barely imagine my life without computers... Iphones are great, but as I'm not very techno-savy, I needed about a year to learn how to get apps

I hope we get something new to talk about in this section of the forum!

I missed you guys so much! I really hope we have something new to talk about! I was just thinking how much my city changes when spring/summer arrives. It's like living in a completely different place! Everyone stays out late, children run around playing games...it's so nice :)
I need to get me an i-phone. But since I had to buy a new computer...i'm almost broke. Is technology stuff really expensive in your countries?

Yes! Here too, I mean each season has it's charm I suppose. But now it's so cool, it seems like such a waste of time to be inside.

I think it's definitely more expencive than in the US or UK... I got mine from the US, because it wasn't available here at the time. And it's like that with a lot of things - you ust can't buy them here :(

Yes, I feel like I might do the same. You can buy that kind of stuff here but it's way too expensive.
Did you have any sort of trouble using it in your country after you bought it? I mean, I suppose it came with US standard service. Was it SIM-card blocked?

Yes it was blocked :( It doesn't take time and it's quite cheap to decode it though. So perhaps it pays off. How much do Iphones cost now anyway?

I've just return and read this :D
During the beginning of the 20th century Argentina recieved a lot of inmigrants from all around though I think most of them were form Spain and italy. I'm not sure I know anybody with slovene roots though, I'm going to ask around haha
How have you all been??

That depends I think Katja...the new iphone goes up to 700 maybe 800? The other go for about 500. I just...I can't give that amount of money for a phone, you know? I payed that for my Nikon and my new PC but that's different, you know? I need a PC to function and my Nikon is my baby... Maybe that's ilogical hahaha

Hi Jess! :) It makes sense that Argentina received a lot of Spanish and Italian immigrants. The language is very similar. You should probably be able to find a couple of portuguese ones too :P

I really thought I've posted an answer to this 3 weeks ago...

If I was paying for my phone I'd not pay that much either, though now I've had it for 2ish years and I dread the day when it'll stop working :(

What's going on in your lives, girls?
