Karolina - they sound kind of like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo... are they as riveting?
And I do not want to be a rose.
I do not wish to be pale pink,
but flower scarlet, flower gold.
And have no thorns to distance me,

but be bright,
bright,
bright as yellow,
warm as yellow.

Well, unfortunately I haven't read any of Stieg Larsson's books yet...

But yes, they are riveting. Especially the showdowns. Since there are about 10 "Wallander"-books, you really get to know the main character you and you get kind of worried about him. And you don't even have to read them in chronological order. It makes you curious and the way he eventually solves the case is surprising. There's also a tv series! But I like the Swedish version better than the English/BBC one.

I just finished reading 'This is a Love Story' by Jessica Thompson. Such an adorably cute book - would recommend. :-)

I have a few books on the go at the moment, need to get back to reading them though as I haven't for a little while:

    Steve Jobs biography
Lewis Carroll illustrated collection (Alice in Wonderland at the moment)
Nick Hornby - How to be good (took on holiday recently as it was smaller than the above books but only read about 40 pages while I was away)
Lee Child - Persuader (given up on this as it wasn't going anywhere fast)
Ukulele for Dummies (if you can class this as a book)

I've been on a Lewis kick recently. I'd never read anything by him until this summer. His view of American life is very cynical and he's a great satirist.

Obviously I'm on a classics kick. I'm sure I'll read something published more recently, but the classics are classics for a reason;)

Didn't he also write Main Street? I read his stuff years ago and really liked it.

Anyone as JD Salinger fan? Not so much Catcher in the Rye but I love his stories about the Glass family.

I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It's absolutely brilliant! Set in 19th century England it follows two magicians and a mysterious circus. Very gothic. I think it's kind of like eating dark chocolate while watching The Prestige haha. Definitely check it out. I was looking for a nice light read after some heavy classic bashing and continued to pick this book up whenever I saw it around (beautiful cover art). I didn't expect it to be this enthralling!

Currently reading Murakami's Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Slow going but very good.

I'm reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo because someone told me it was really good. I'm so not enjoying it :(

Ptree - you're not liking it? How far in are you? It takes a while for the plot to heat up.
