The 100 Book Challenge

Postby sarah h » Mon Mar 05, 2012 4:09 pm

So today I finally thought of a New Years Resolution (I know it's really late), and it is to read 100 books before the end of 2012. So if anyone wants to also do this challenge with me, we can use this thread for motivation and to keep up to date on what everyone is reading.

Books
1. Naked Heat by Richard Castle // Started: March 5th // Ended: -
2. Heat Rises by RIchard Castle
3. The Fellowship of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
4. The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien
5. The Return of the King by JRR Tolkien
6. The Hobbit or Here and Back Again by JRR Tolkien
7. Criminal Minds: Jump Cut by Max Allan Collins
8. Criminal Minds: Killer Profile by Max Allan Collins
9. Criminal Minds: Finishing School by Max Collins
10. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
11. The Girl who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson
12. The Gril who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson

My New Year's Resolution is pretty similar to this one - except it's to read 12 books! Not quite as ambitious as 100...I'm a university research student so most of my time gets swamped by non-fiction literature that takes a bajillion hours to get through (I'm looking at YOU, Henri Lefebvre).

I've read Emma by Jane Austen so far (I started it in late December and finished it early January)...now I'm reading The Beautiful and the Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

You're definitely more ambitious than I am! I don't have a set number but I did decide to keep track of how many I read this year. So far, here is my list.

January - The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman
January - The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo
February - Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling
February - Decision Points by George W. Bush
In Progress - The Magicians by Lev Grossman

Did you manage to complete this challenge? I know it's a year too late but I really like the sound of it! :P

I'm doing something similar for 2013. I've resolved to read 52 new to me books this year. (So any rereads don't count.) I'm doing pretty well, about 2-3 books ahead of schedule. I'm keeping track of my progress on a blog. You can check it out at oneyearfiftytwobooks on tumblr. I'd love recommendations!

I've just visited your profile in goodreads.com and you've read 19 so far, that's great!! I'm currently reading Fifty Shades Freed, the last volume of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. Then, I'd like to read some chick lit. Any recommendations? :)

Chick Lit

Postby danabethmarie » Tue Apr 30, 2013 10:33 am

Some of my favorite totally light chick lit is The Brides Quartet by Nora Roberts. I probably love them so much because I just want to quit my life and run off and be a wedding planner... It's a series of four books, and yeah, they're all pretty similar, but I still love them. The first one is Vision in White.

I've also recently read both of Rainbow Rowell's books, Eleanor and Park and Attachements, and they were both EXCELLENT.
