Henning Mankell's "Wallander" book series (thriller/crime).
Perfect for a lazy, rainy evening on the couch with a cup of tea and your favourite cuddly blanket.
The main character is Swedish detective Kurt Wallander who struggles with personal everyday problems such as midlife crisis, the difficult relationship with his daughter, health issues etc. The murder cases he has to solve are not "just" murders (e.g. out of jealousy etc.) but murders with very complex (and sometimes even international) background stories.
I noticed the author describes every location in detail as often as possible, especially the cold Swedish weather, which makes it very easy to see things from the character's/characters' perspective and which makes cosy evenings even cosier. Guaranteed!
