I currently can't put down The Sherlock Holmes books. They are so amazing! They are hilarious and never stop surprising me! Each story is so incredibly different, its great!

I'm inspired by all the titles listed previously! I would love to be on a Sinclair Lewis kick!! Hemmingway and Lewis are very intimidating. I've wanted to read classic author's like those two, but I tend to shy away from the classics, with the exception of Jane Austen! :)

The Muffin Bible looks awesome! One of my new years resolutions is to cook/bake more. I'll have to check that out.

Miss Rollie - I've recently read the first two Sherlock Holmes books and have enjoyed them immensely! I tend to read quite a few classics a year, interspersed with newer or random titles. I'd never read Sinclair Lewis until this year and was quite surprised with how much I liked his writing. I also read a lot of Steinbeck and, as he's one of my favorite authors, I foresee reading more of his work. I also foresee reading a lot of Shakespeare's plays as I don't remember reading many in high school.

I recently finished The Hours by Michael Cunningham and it was SO GOOD. Currently reading The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman by Ernest J. Gaines. That's my fourth book of this year!

I finished On The Road and liked it more than I thought I would. I may have to revisit some of the other Beats now that almost a decade has passed since I decided I wanted none of it.

I'm about to start Half Empty by David Rakoff. I really love everything he contributes to This American Life so I'm predicting this will be a fun(ny) read.

I finished The Autobiography of Ms. Jane Pittman and really enjoyed it. Now I'm reading The Book of Lights by Chaim Potok. It's slow going and not very interesting or very good. But I have a compulsion where I MUST finish a book I've started.

Henning Mankell's "Wallander" book series (thriller/crime).

Perfect for a lazy, rainy evening on the couch with a cup of tea and your favourite cuddly blanket.

The main character is Swedish detective Kurt Wallander who struggles with personal everyday problems such as midlife crisis, the difficult relationship with his daughter, health issues etc. The murder cases he has to solve are not "just" murders (e.g. out of jealousy etc.) but murders with very complex (and sometimes even international) background stories.

I noticed the author describes every location in detail as often as possible, especially the cold Swedish weather, which makes it very easy to see things from the character's/characters' perspective and which makes cosy evenings even cosier. Guaranteed! ;)
