Are there any differences between soft cup and the diva cup? I'm interested in the Diva Cup but also apprehensive. I've heard it takes a lot of practice to be able to insert it so it seals well. I also think about needing to empty in a public restroom. Do you like wash it out at the sink and then hop back into the stall and reinsert? SO MANY QUESTIONS. PLEASE HELP.

There are a few differences. Softcup is only to be worn 12 hours at a time before disposing it. The Diva Cup can be reused and washed every 12 hours. Both of their sites have FAQs.

I hope that helps ^_^

I've had a DivaCup for a while, but I can't say that I'm an expert inserter yet. It's really firm but I think if it goes any softer, it won't get in... at least in my case.

I still can't imagine having to empty it in a public restroom. I ordered a squeeze water bottle together with the DivaCup, which should at least allow me to rinse from within a stall. I haven't done this yet and to be honest I'm dreading it since I find public bathrooms generally dirty.

When I'm not DivaCupping, I'm wearing reusable cotton pads. No, they aren't gross! And they wash really well. Anybody else using these wonderful things?

I am thinking about ordering reusable pads (the clothe kind) for backup.

Yay! I'm very happy with the Lunapads sample pack that I ordered more, and this time with designs. It's surprisingly easy to clean up. I pre-wash them right after I wear them, then I toss it in with the rest of the laundry after it dries. It's as good as new afterwards. Periods are fun. Lol.

haha I don't know if I agree with periods being fun, but picking out all the new products could be enjoyable.

Anne, thank you so much for replying to this thread! I'm glad that I'm not the only that feels emptying in a public place would be a little off putting. I still want to try the Diva Cup though. And obviously practice makes perfect on inserting I would guess.

Softcups being disposable confuse me. I thought one of the main benefits of using a cup was reducing environmental impact with the amount of trash tampons/pads create.

I haven't tried reusable pads because I feel like my heavy flow days are too much for them to handle.

I didn't know there was such a thing as reusable pads! I'm going to look into those. I was really interested in the Diva Cup, but I have an IUD and I was told you shouldn't use any of the cup products when you have one.

The Diva Cup seems pricier at Whole Foods than online.

Here are some reusable pads:
