Misogyny in *

Yeah I don't know why a majority of sex scenes either ignore the topic all together or try to make it seem like using a condom is horrible.

I don't want to take away from the conversation about condom use, but I just found this response to the orginal article I posted: http://www.forbes.com/sites/susannahbreslin/2011/11/17/porn-isnt-misogynist/

I will admit that I wasn't totally won over by Marcotte's original article on Slate, but I'm even less impressed by this response. It seems to me that the only reason she gives for * not being misogynistic is that it's just a reflection of men's fantasies. How is that a defense? Because it's what they fantasize about it's ok?

To go slightly on a tangent, sometimes I feel like we don't hold men to a high enough standard. Why can't they be expected to evolve or better themselves? It is in fact possible! But as a whole we seem to like to defend the status quo. This is what men like, it's always been this way, so we better just accept it. (I'm not saying women can't better themselves too, I'm just focusing on men for the purpose of the * argument).

I think maybe folk's have lost interest in this topic, but I will post again anyway. It's sort of graphic, so I apologize. For some reason despite not watching *, I'm interested in the politics of it.
