DOCTOR WHO

I'm shocked that no-one has yet posted a thread for this staggering show! There are so many reasons to love it. The Doctor himself is one of the finest characters on the TV - an eccentric genius with a heart of gold roaming time and space with a yen for Edwardian clothing and who is friends with John Barrowman, no less. Then of course there's the TARDIS, his spaceship. Come on, nowhere else would you see a spaceship that looks like a police telephone box, and one that has a St John Ambulance logo on it at that! The show is so insanely BBC it's ridiculous... there's an episode entitled 'Let's Kill Hitler', for crying out loud (I laughed and laughed and laughed the first time I heard about that)! It's amazing! And Stephen Moffat is one of the greatest things to have happened to it. Of course David Tennant is the best Doctor.

Disagree! I saw a few episodes of season 6 and LOVED it and so I went back to netflix to start at the beginning and HATED the original doctor. So then I just skipped ahead to season four when they brought it back with Matt Smith (I may have just completely made up his name, but I don't feel like looking it up.) I know it's horrible to say you like the new better than the original, but I do. And I guess for me, he IS the original. And I REALLY hate the Diary of a Call Girl chick who's in the first bunch of episodes.

I have to say I think David tenant will always be the doctor for me. I've watched it since the Christopher eccleston days but David just owned that role. I liked Rose (billie piper). But probably because of the relationship between her and the doctor. I was literally bawling in the episode in which she left!

I am so in love with Doctor Who!! I watched it from the first season with Christopher Eccleston through The End of Time with David Tennant on Netflix, then season 5 on DVD. Season 6 was the first season I watched live and learned how traumatic it can be not having the next episode just waiting for me! By the time I started to like Christopher Eccleston I was at the end of the season, and then the Doctor became David Tennant so, hey, I really didn't care. I have to admit, I still look at Matt Smith and see "not-David-Tennant"... ;)

I'm the same. I sometimes watch episodes and think David Tennant would have done it better, which is such a bad way to watch a tv show! I can't wait for the new series to start, although that isn't for months and months :(

I love Doctor Who. I think which ever Doctor you started with is your favorite. I love Matt Smith as the Doctor, but I started watching with David Tennant, so he is my fave.

Stephen Moffat is a writing god! IMHO of course... :) Not only is Blink a brilliant stand alone episode, but the ongoing storylines he's created with the Doctor/Amy/River - love it.

Not to mention, Sherlock, Jekyll, Coupling...

Does anyone know, is Amy still the companion for this next season?

The Ponds final episode is epi 5, takes place in NYC with the weeping angels. The new companion is Jenna Louise Coleman. She will start in the Christmas Episode and is rumored to not be a human.

That being said. While I enjoy the current series of Doctor Who (who wouldnt love david tennant, and yes he is definatively the best of this series. I really want him to regenerate soon, but who knows who we'd end up with then) I really wish more people would actually go back and actually watch from the beginning, the true beginning like the stuff from the 70's. Its bad production value but the stories are really good.

Also, I miss Russel Davies!! Moffet can write a great one off but he drags out these season arcs forever to the point that we see the reveal a mile away and you just want it to be over. Majorly anticlimactic.

Anyway, rant over. Love the Doctor

I think you're missing a word there -- you've likely seen all the revival series episodes. That is, everything since 2005. It's not only unlikely that you've seen every episode, but actually impossible. Of the 784 episodes that have aired since the show began in 1963, just over 100 of them have been lost over the years (BBC used to record over the tapes after airing them, sadly).
